Abstract

The aim of the study was to clarify the causes that reduce the effectiveness of surgical treatment of focal liver diseases of various origins. The presented review of the literature data showed an urgent need tothe need to remove large volumes of liver parenchyma. To reduce the number of complications (liver failure, bleeding), a combination of approaches is proposed. Use of chemotherapy andembolization of the arteries of the resection area reduces the size of the formation. Obstruction of portal vein branches by embolization or ligation increases the amount of repair and prevents the development of hepaticfailures. The rate of remnant hypertrophy increases the separation of the liver parenchyma along the resection border. Combined use of tactical approaches, modern equipment and surgical techniquesincreases the effectiveness of treatment of focal liver formations.
