<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>One of the risk factors for the development of sarcopenia is malnutrition. Impairment of the energy value of the diet, the balance of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, a decrease in the protein-amino acid component of the nutritional diet - all this can lead to the development of sarcopenia. The intestinal microflora plays an important role in the process of growth and development of muscle tissue, in preventing its degradation with age. Fatty hepatosis and cirrhosis of the liver can also cause the development of sarcopenia. The problem is urgent and modern, and needs to be studied, which is what this literature review is dedicated to.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>саркопения</kwd><kwd>старческая астения</kwd><kwd>кахексия</kwd><kwd>старение</kwd><kwd>пищеварение</kwd><kwd>желудочно-кишечный тракт</kwd><kwd>мальабсорбция</kwd><kwd>мальнутриция</kwd><kwd>цирроз печени</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>sarcopenia</kwd><kwd>frailty</kwd><kwd>cachexia</kwd><kwd>aging</kwd><kwd>digestion</kwd><kwd>gastrointestinal tract</kwd><kwd>malabsorption</kwd><kwd>malnutrition</kwd><kwd>liver cirrhosis</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Cruz-Jentoft A.
