<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are one of the most complex and significant problems of modern gastroenterology. The steady increase in morbidity, complex pathogenetic mechanisms of development, the presence of severe extra-intestinal manifestations and complications make this problem socially significant. The article presents modern views on some aspects of the pathogenesis of IBD. Currently, the key links in the development and progression of IBD, as well as the development of associated cardiovascular diseases are the state of the intestinal microbiota and the level of endotoxemia. The role of trimethylamine N-oxide as a factor in the early development of atherosclerosis in patients with IBD was determined.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>воспалительные заболевания кишечника (ВЗК)</kwd><kwd>язвенный колит (ЯК)</kwd><kwd>болезнь Крона (БК)</kwd><kwd>микробиота</kwd><kwd>эндотоксин</kwd><kwd>N-оксид триметиламин (ТМАО)</kwd><kwd>сердечно-сосудистые заболевания (ССЗ)</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD)</kwd><kwd>ulcerative colitis (UC)</kwd><kwd>Crohn’s disease (CD)</kwd><kwd>microbiota</kwd><kwd>endotoxin</kwd><kwd>trimethylamine N-oxide</kwd><kwd>cardiovascular diseases</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Guan Q.
